The CSH–RUCARES  Severe Behavior Program

This morning NCSA-NJ visited the  CSH–RUCARES  Severe Behavior Program, and the co-located feeding clinic.  It was great touring their facilities, speaking with their leadership team, and meeting the family of a client.

Our net take-aways:

  1. NJ is lucky to have a program like this. It is one of just a handful in the country.

  2. Their work makes a real difference.  It impacts not just in the lives of their clients but their parents and siblings as well

  3. The waiting list is FAR too long. A year or more is not ok for families dealing with crises every single day.  And we were told only a small fraction of students that requiring this sort of program actually even apply

  4. There is a real need for funding and policy changes to fix this.  Families in crisis here in NJ should not have to wait a year or more for medically-necessary interventions.

Helping drive these changes is a core part of the NCSA-NJ mission.
