Group Home Safety Legislation
My daughter was locked, starved, suffered rapid weight loss, overmedicated on psychotropics, had her medical needs ignored, evicted without notice or reason, and ultimately almost died as a consequence of the abuse, neglect and injuries inflicted on her while she was supposed to be cared for by the group home management and staff.
To this day my daughter who is only 21 years old remains entirely toothless, a constant painful reminder of her abuse and neglect, greatly limiting her nutrition, quality of life and dignity.
It is astounding that in our society non-human animals have more rights than the disabled humans. Presently it is a crime punishable by law to mistreat an animal. Yet it is not a crime to mistreat my daughter and others like her, who despite being disabled is also human, just like you and I.
