NJ-NCSAutism Testifies in Trenton
From Parul Aneja Khemka in Trenton: There were heart wrenching stories including one that was about a family that lost their brother just this Saturday on the watch of a group home. He drowned. Lots of group homes were there. Most were in opposition of S3750/S3752. The Ombudsman testified. Grateful to NJ Ombudsman for Individuals with Intellectual & Developmental Disabilities for shining the light and supporting our families at such a critical time.
There were many testimonies heard and many lined up. Unfortunately I was not called upon to speak. But three other NCSA NJ members including our clinical advisor Kathy Freeman spoke.
Thankfully all the Vitale bills that were voted on today passed. Two of the bills, 50 and 52 were only being discussed and will be voted on in the future.
It is critical these other bills pass and we will keep everyone posted on the effort.
